Greening the Federal Supply Chain: Implementing Obama’s Executive Order 13514
Workshop Session III: Tuesday, May 4, 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Concentration: Greening the Manufacturing Sector and Other Industries
The federal government plays a major role in our economy as a purchaser of goods and services, spending about $530 billion annually. On October 5, 2009, President Obama issued Executive Order 13514, which requires federal agencies to develop a strategy to reduce their own greenhouse gas emissions and the emissions of their contractors and suppliers. If fully implemented, the Executive Order will not only cut large amounts of emissions, but also create clean energy jobs and help build the clean energy economy to scale. This workshop will provide a forum for discussing how the Obama administration plans to realize the ambitious goals of the Executive Order, and how businesses, unions and other stakeholders can be part of the solutions.
