Can’t Wait For the Fed: Moving Green Jobs with State-Level Policy
Workshop Session I: Tuesday, May 4, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Concentration: State and Local Initiatives/Other
State-level organizers aren’t waiting for federal action — they’re leading the way with policies that shift major, long-standing barriers to building green economies. How are individual states building powerful coalitions, finding funds and changing rules to create quality green jobs? And how can state regulation fight the “greenwashing” of poor quality jobs as low-road companies jump on the bandwagon? This workshop will look at game-changing projects in three states: making green jobs safe jobs in Massachusetts, scaling up high-road residential retrofits in New York, and undoing coal’s grip on West Virginia.
