Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association
The Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association (SMWIA) serves to protect and raise the living standards of over 150,000 skilled men and women employed throughout the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. Our members work in the construction, manufacturing, service, railroad and shipyard industries performing work on HVAC systems, testing and air balancing, building commissioning, indoor air quality, building information management (BIM), and other related markets. For close to 40 years, we have trained our skilled workforce in existing and emerging markets through our International Training Institute (ITI) and its network of some 160 training centers. In conjunction with our labor partner, the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA), our industry’s National Energy Management Institute (NEMI) has identified and developed solutions to the demands of new environmental markets that will improve building technology and energy efficiency.
