Chinese Investments in the Clean Energy Sector are Outpacing the U.S: How the U.S. Can Use Innovation, Markets and Other Tools to Compete

Concentration: Business, Investment and New Markets
This session will look at global clean energy markets and identify which countries are emerging as leaders in these markets and why. It will focus on why the U.S. is losing out to China in the solar market, after being the solar leader only a few years ago as well as which markets we have the potential to lead. We will also hear from a U.S. wind company about the factors that influence decisions about where to locate, as well as a company producing rare earth minerals, key inputs that are emerging as a competitive tool for the U.S. and China. This workshop will discuss U.S. innovation, policy tools and the future of manufacturing in the U.S. Along with clean-tech companies, panel speakers will include experts from the Natural Resources Defense Council.
