Recycling is a key component in achieving our nations greenhouse gas reduction goals. As aluminum products have seen an increase in use, the domestic aluminum recycling industry has likewise experienced growth and investment. In 2008, 34 percent of the aluminum used in North America was derived from recycled materials — amounting to approximately 1.56 billion pounds of used beverage cans in the United States.
