Workshop Session III: Tuesday, May
4, 4:30 - 6:00 p.m.
Concentration: Greening the Manufacturing Sector and Other Industries
Investments in broadband and information communications technologies have the potential to revolutionize energy management and economic development in the United States. Smart buildings, smart grids, telehealth, teleconferencing, digital education - all of which are part of a highly networked economy - can reduce CO2 emissions, conserve energy resources, and create and retain good, green jobs, but only if lawmakers make smart investment and policy choices. The session will focus on broad areas of energy savings from networked technology that can also help achieve our economic and environmental goals and the policies and investments necessary to realize them.
Moderator:
Annie Hill, Communications Workers of America, Executive Vice
President
Presenters:
Nathan Newman, Progressive States Network, Executive Director
Nick Sinai, Federal Communications Commission, Energy and Environment Director
