Oil Industry Workers and Climate Change: What Does Our Future Look Like?
Workshop Session II: Tuesday, May 4,
2:30 - 4:00 p.m.
Concentration: Greening the Manufacturing Sector and Other Industries
With much of the focus on expanding our nation's renewables technologies, what role will oil play in our clean energy future? Several oil companies are exploring how their industry can play a role in the clean energy economy, and this program will discuss their efforts. From exploring how to develop new forms of biofuels that do not use food-based crops and are less harmful to the environment than other cleaner ways of using fossil fuels, such as carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) technology, oil companies are making investments in research and development to carve out a path for their future.
