A Greener Workforce System: Lessons from Leading Local Initiatives

An innovative new social investment program is investing in employer-driven partnerships that include government agencies, community-based organizations, community colleges and others working to create green jobs systems. These efforts are helping low-skilled job seekers and incumbent workers enter into career paths and good jobs, and providing customized workforce solutions for employers in clean energy industries within the regional labor market. From the East Bay to Pittsburgh, these partnerships are building a green workforce development system. This panel brings the leaders of leading local efforts together to share lessons, future directions and the implications for national policy and broader employer-community-labor partnerships.
