Greening Workforce Development: Strategies and Programs for Youth
Workshop Session I: Tuesday, May 4, 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Concentration: Education, Innovative Learning and Training
Strategies for greening the workforce must include a focus on youth development. This workshop will discuss the Department of Labor's Employment and Training Administration’s efforts to prepare youth for green jobs through education and training programs and work experiences. In addition, the Mayor's Green Summer Job Corps and the Atlanta Mentorship Program for Sustainability will discuss their efforts to engage and employ youth in green jobs and discuss how they have leveraged collective resources from multiple stakeholders to support efforts in the area of green jobs, sustainability and youth development. In addition, the Mayor's Green Summer Job Corps and the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency's Atlanta Mentorship Program for Sustainability will discuss their efforts to engage and employ youth in green jobs and discuss how they have leveraged collective resources from multiple stakeholders to support efforts in the area of green jobs, sustainability and youth development.
